Recession Barometer: The 10/2 Yield Curve Indicator – Week Ending March 8, 2019

Last week we started this report with: “Rates are rising. So, too, are spreads.” This week, the opposite is true. This past week, rates fell considerably in both the USA and Canada. In the USA, the spread stayed level at 0.17x but, in Canada, lower-trending rates also translated unto a lower spread. Our U.S. and Canadian charts show the respective trends in the rates of the two countries very clearly.
